1. What is exercise physiology?

Exercise physiology is the science of how physical activity impacts the human body. Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) use evidence-based exercise and lifestyle programs to help manage and prevent a range of health conditions, improve fitness, and support recovery.

2. What conditions do you treat?

We work with people of all ages and abilities, including those with:

  • Cardiovascular disease

  • Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes

  • Obesity and metabolic syndrome

  • Musculoskeletal injuries and chronic pain

  • Arthritis and osteoporosis

  • Mental health conditions (e.g. depression, anxiety, PTSD)

  • Cancer

  • Neurological conditions (e.g. Parkinson’s disease, MS, stroke recovery)

  • Respiratory conditions (e.g. COPD, asthma)

  • Work related injuries

  • Sports injuries

3. Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

No referral is necessary for private clients. However, if you are seeking treatment under Medicare, DVA, NDIS, or Workers Compensation, a referral from your GP or healthcare provider may be required.

4. What should I expect in my first appointment?

Your initial consultation will include:

  • A detailed health and medical history review

  • Discussion of your goals and needs

  • Physical assessments (as appropriate)

  • Development of a tailored exercise program

  • Advice on lifestyle, movement, and recovery

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring any relevant medical documents or referrals.

5. How long are appointments?

  • Initial consultation: Approximately 45–60 minutes

  • Follow-up appointments: Typically 30–45 minutes

  • Times may vary depending on your condition and recovery needs.

6. Do you offer home visits or telehealth?

Yes! We offer:

  • In-clinic appointments

  • Home visits across Western NSW (travel fees may apply)

  • Telehealth consultations for clients who prefer to access services remotely

This ensures our services are accessible across rural and regional areas.

7. Are your services covered by Medicare or private health?

Yes. Depending on your situation:

  • Medicare: With a valid Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) or Chronic Disease Management (CDM) referral from your GP

  • Private Health: Rebates available with most major insurers (check your policy for Exercise Physiology)

  • NDIS: Plan managed and self-managed participants

  • DVA, WorkCover, CTP: Services can be funded with appropriate approvals

8. What are your clinic hours?

We offer flexible appointment times, including early morning and late afternoon sessions. Please contact us directly to confirm availability.

9. Where are you located?

Western Exercise Physiology is based in Dubbo, NSW. From here, we proudly serve clients throughout Western NSW. We provide telehealth services for areas which we are unable to reach.
